Packet, the go-to cloud partner for disruptive Enterprises and developers, is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Green as its Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Green will lead Packet’s go-to-market strategy, including global sales and strategic alliances, and drive the company’s continued expansion into the Enterprise and Edge markets. Green will report to CEO Zachary Smith.
Green said: “In the past 20 years, I have been fortunate to join both VMware and Synopsys when they were similar in size to Packet—and helped scale those two companies. These were both incredible experiences, but I’ve never been more excited to dive into an opportunity than I am with Packet.”
Green is a veteran sales leader who has helped scale billion-dollar sales and partner organizations across the Enterprise software space. Most recently, Green served as SVP of Worldwide Sales & Services for Puppet, a leader in configuration management software, where he led the global sales initiatives, including direct and channel sales, as well as Customer Success.
“In looking for a CRO, we sought that perfect balance of experience, hunger, and charisma to create a revenue culture that could scale to match our opportunity,” noted Packet co-founder and CMO Jacob Smith. “It is clear that with Gary, we’ve got all that and more.”
From 2002 to 2016, Green held a variety of leadership positions at VMware including most recently VP, Worldwide Sales for its network and security business unit. Previously, he was VMware’s VP of Global Strategic Alliances, driving revenues in excess of $1 billion. Before VMware, Green was VP of Global Strategic Sales at Synopsys, a $3 billion firm specializing in optimizing security and quality in DevSecOps and throughout its software development life cycle.
“As Packet builds on its leadership position in bare metal cloud and edge computing, Gary’s unique experience moving from agile startup to market-leader is a competitive advantage,” said Packet CEO Zac Smith. “We are excited to welcome him to our team team.”
